Representatives of various Hindu groups, who had planned to stage a protest outside the archaeological site of old Sacoale church, were stopped by a strong police force on Thursday. The situation turned tense as the group demanded with the administration to stop celebration of St. Joseph Vaaz feast from happening on January 16. Representatives of the right wing groups said that they will submit a representation to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant listing their demands. They also challenged the Minister for Archaeology and Archives Subhash Phal Dessai to stop the feast at the archeology site and demanded that the Hindus also be given same treatment when they want to do pooja at the site
