ആലപ്പാട് പഞ്ചായത്തിലെ കരിമണല്‍ ഖനനത്തിനെതിരെ സമരം ശക്തമാകുമ്പോൽ സമരത്തിനൊപ്പം സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളും താരങ്ങളും ആണി ചേരുന്നു.
സേവ് ആലപ്പാട്, സ്റ്റോപ്പ് മൈനിങ് എന്നീ ഹാഷ്ടാഗുകളില്‍ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ സജീവമാവുകയാണ് ആലപ്പാടിന്റെ ദുരിതം. ട്രോള്‍ ഗ്രൂപ്പുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ വിഷയം ഏറ്റെടുത്തതോടെയാണു പ്രാദേശിക സമരം വീണ്ടും ചര്‍ച്ചയായത്. പ്രളയകാലത്ത് രക്ഷകരായവരുടെ നിലനില്‍പ്പ് തന്നെ ഇപ്പോള്‍ അപകടത്തിലാണ്. 60 വര്‍ഷമായി തുടരുന്ന ഖനനം ഒരു ഗ്രാമത്തെതന്നെ ഇല്ലാതാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

ആലപ്പാട് ഇനി എത്ര നാൾ?..
പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി തുടരുന്ന ഖനനം ഈ കടല്‍ തീരങ്ങളുടെ സന്തുലിനാവസ്ഥയെ ബാധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് നാട്ടുകാര്‍ സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു
അറബിക്കടലിനും ടിഎസ് കനാലിനും മധ്യേ ആലപ്പാട് ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്ത് ഞെരുങ്ങിപ്പോകുന്നത് തുടരുന്നു.
ഒരുവശത്ത് കായലും മറുവശത്ത് കടലുമാല്‍ ചുറ്റപ്പെട്ട പഞ്ചായത്താണ് കൊല്ലത്തെ ആലപ്പാട് പഞ്ചായത്ത്. ഫലഭൂഷ്ടിയുള്ള മണ്ണും വിവിധയിനം മത്സ്യങ്ങളുടെ പ്രജനനം നടക്കുന്ന കടല്‍ തീരവും ഈ നാടിന്റെ സമ്പത്തായിരുന്നു. വലിയ തോതില്‍ ഖനനം നടക്കുന്നതിനാല്‍ ഭൂമിയുടെ വിസ്താരം അനിയന്ത്രിതമാം വിധം കുറയുകയാണിവിടെ. കടലിനും കായലിനുമിടയില്‍ ബണ്ട്‌പോലെ ചെറിയ ഒരു ഭാഗം മാത്രമാണിപ്പോള്‍ അവശേഷിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് പ്രദേശവാസികള്‍ പറയുന്നു. ഈ ഭൂമി കൂടി കടലിനടിയിലായാല്‍ ആലപ്പാട് എന്ന ഈ ഗ്രാമം ഭൂമുഖത്ത് നിന്നും മാഞ്ഞില്ലാതെയാകുമെന്ന ആശങ്കയിലാണ് ഇവിടുത്തെ ജനങ്ങള്‍.
ഇല്‍മാനൈറ്റ് ,സിലിക്കോണ്‍, റൂട്ടൈന്‍ ,ഗാര്‍നൈറ്റ്, മോണോസൈറ്റ് ,സിലിമിനൈറ്റ് സിലിക്ക എന്നീ ധാതുക്കളുടെ നിക്ഷേപം 1925 മുതല്‍ തന്നെ നീണ്ടകര മുതല്‍ കായംകുളം വരെ 23 കി.മീ. നീളത്തില്‍ കിടക്കുന്ന കടല്‍ത്തീരത്തെ മണലില്‍ വലിയ തോതിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നുവെന്ന ് നാട്ടിലെ മുതിര്‍ന്ന ആളുകള്‍ പറയുന്നു.
പതിറ്റാണ്ടുകളായി തുടരുന്ന ഖനനം ഈ കടല്‍ തീരങ്ങളുടെ സന്തുലിനാവസ്ഥയെ ബാധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് നാട്ടുകാര്‍ സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു.
3 കി മീ വീതിയുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ആലപ്പാടുള്ള വെള്ളനാട എന്ന് ഗ്രാമം ഇപ്പോള്‍ വെറും 95 മീറ്റര്‍ വീതി മാത്രമാണ് എന്ന് പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റ് നിയമസഭാ അന്വേഷക സമിതിക്കു മുമ്പില്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ച റിപ്പോട്ടില്‍ പറയുന്നു.
1930 കളില്‍ ബിട്ടീഷുകാരാണ് ഈ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ തീരങ്ങളില്‍ ഖനനം തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. പിന്നീടിങ്ങോട്ട് പല സ്വകാര്യ കമ്പനികളും ഇവിടെ ഖനനം നടത്തിപ്പോന്നു. ഏറ്റവുമൊടുവില്‍ പൊതുമേഖലാ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളായ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ റെയര്‍ ഏര്‍ത് ലിമിറ്റഡ് (ഐ.ആര്‍.ഇ.എല്‍) ഉം, കേരളാ മിനറല്‍സ് ആന്‍ഡ് മെറ്റല്‍സ് ലിമിറ്റഡ് (കെ.എം.എം.എല്‍) ഉം വരെ എത്തിനില്‍ക്കുന്നു ആ നീണ്ട നിര.
1955 ലെ ലിത്തോ മാപ്പ് പ്രകാരം ആലപ്പാട് ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ വിസ്തൃതി 89.5 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്ററായിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോഴത് 8.9 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്ററായി ചുരുങ്ങിയത്രെ. 80 ചതുരശ്ര കിലോമീറ്ററോളം സ്ഥലം എവിടെപ്പോയെന്നാണ് നാട്ടിലെ ചോദ്യം.

ഖനനം മൂലം നിരവധി പ്രതിസന്ധികളാണ് ആലപ്പാടിലെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ അനുഭവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. ജനജീവിത ദുസ്സഹമാവുകയും തൊഴില്‍ സാധ്യതകള്‍ മാഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടും ഇരിക്കുകയാണ്. മത്സ്യ ബന്ധനവും അതുമായി ചേര്‍ന്ന് കിടക്കുന്ന മേഖലയിലും തൊഴില്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നവര്‍ ഒക്കെയും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു പോകേണ്ടി വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. അയ്യായിരത്തോളം കുടുംബങ്ങളാണ് ഖനനം മൂലം ഭൂ രഹിതരാവുകയും കുടിയൊഴിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തത് എന്നാണു കണക്കുകള്‍ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. ചാകര എന്ന പ്രതിഭാസം കൊല്ലം ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലകളുടെ തീരദേശത്തിനു ഇന്ന് നഷ്ടമാകുവാന്‍ കാരണം ഈ മണല്‍ ഖനനം തന്നെയാണ് .തീരം ചേര്‍ന്ന് എക്കലും ചെളിയും അടിഞ്ഞുകൂടി കുഴമ്പ് രൂപത്തില്‍ കാണുന്നതും തീരത്തെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതും മത്സ്യ സമ്പത്തിന്റെ പ്രജനനതിനു ഗുണം ചെയ്യുന്നതുമായ പ്രതിഭാസമാണ് ചാകര. തീരം ചേര്‍ന്ന് തിരമാലകള്‍ ശാനതാംയിരിക്കുന്നതിനും ഈ പ്രതിഭാട്സം അനിവാര്യമാണ് . ആലപ്പാടിന്റെ തെക്ക് ഭാഗം മുതല്‍ വടക്ക് ഭാഗം വരെ തീരാ മേഖലയിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന സ്വാഭാവിക കണ്ടാല്‍ ക്കടുകളും ഖനനം മൂലം ആലപ്പാടിനു നഷ്ടമായി കണ്ടല്‍ക്കടിനോട് ചേര്‍ന്ന് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മത്സ്യ സമ്പത്തും ഇതോടെ ശോഷിച്ചു . ഖനനത്തിന്റെ ഫലമായി തീരസംരക്ഷനതിനായി വച്ച് പിടിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന കാറ്റാടി മരങ്ങളും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു . തീര ശോഷണത്തിനും നാശത്തിനും വേഗത കൂടിയത് ഇങ്ങനെയാണ് .ജലസ്രോതസ്സിനുണ്ടായ നാശം ആണ് തീരാ ദേശവാസികള്‍ അനുഭവിച്ച മറ്റൊരു ദുരന്തം
ഖനന്‍ പ്രദേശത്ത് ശുദ്ധ ജലം ലഭ്യമായിരുന്ന തണ്ണീര്‍ തടങ്ങളും കിണറുകളും മറ്റു ഉറവകളും ഖനന ഫലമായി വറ്റി വരണ്ടു നശിച്ചു പോയി . ശുദ്ധജല ഉപയോഗത്തില്‍ സ്വയം പര്യാപ്തത കൈവരിച്ച ഈ പഞ്ചായത്ത് ഇന്ന് ശുദ്ധ ജലത്തിനായി സമരം ചെയ്യുകയാണ് . ഇതിലൊക്കെ ഉപരി അല്പാദ് ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഏറ്റവും നാശ നഷ്ടങ്ങള്‍ അഭിമുഖീകരിച്ചത് സുനാമിയിലൂടെ ആയിരുന്നു ലക്ഷദ്വീപ് കടല്‍ മേഖലയില്‍ സുനാമി തിരമാലകള്‍ മൂലം കന്യാകുമാരി കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ കേരളത്തില്‍ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ ജീവനും സ്വത്തിനും നാശനഷ്ടമുണ്ടായത് ആലപ്പാട് പന്ച്ഛയതിലാണ് . പഞ്ചായതിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന പ്രകൃതി ദത്തമായ മണല്‍ കൂനകള്‍ ഖനനം മൂലം ഇല്ലാതാവുകയും തല്‍ഫലമായി കടലാക്രമണ പ്രതിരോധ ശേഷി നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടതിന്റെയും ഫലമായിരുന്നു ആലപ്പാട് അഭിമുഖീകരിച്ചു ദുരന്തം .
