Bhubaneswar: Block grant teachers and lecturers under the banner of the Odisha School College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum observed the Teachers day today as Black Day protesting non-fulfillment of their demands by the State Government.
Bearing incessant rain, large number of teachers staged a protest at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here to press for their demands. The activists also threatened to shut down all block grant schools and colleges from September 6. Their demands include abolition of block grant system, equal pay for equal work and job regularization.
It may be mentioned here that the teachers have been staging agitation near Lower PMG here from August 16.
The agitating teachers also threatened that they will gherao houses of MLAs across the State on September 6 and 7 and take out rallies in every Panchayat from September 17 to press for their demands.
Meanwhile, the annual state and district-level programmes to felicitate teachers has been postponed for an indefinite period.

जलीलपुर क्षेत्र में बदमाशों ने नशीला पदार्थ खिलाकर एक ई-रिक्शा चालक को बंधक बनाया और उसकी ई-रिक्शा लूटकर फरार हो गये।
जानकारी के अनुसार गांव नवादा निवासी व्यक्ति इंतेज़ार बाज़ार में रिक्शा चलाकर अपने परिवार का पालन पोषण करता है। दो दिन पूर्व भी वह रोज़ की भांति अपनी रोजी रोटी कमाने के लिए जलीलपुर बाज़ार आया था। लेकिन देर शाम तक घर नही लौटने पर परिजनों को चिंता होने लगी और परिजनों ने इंतज़ार की गुमशुदगी की तहरीर सीतामठ पुलिस चैकी पर दी। परिजनों की तहरीर के आधार पर पुलिस ने तुरंत कार्यवाही करते हुए इंतजार का मोबाईल नंबर ट्रेस किया और लोकेशन पर पहुंची तो वहां एक गन्ने के खेत में इंतज़ार बेहोषी की हालत में पड़ा मिला। पुलिस ने जब इंतेज़ार से पूछताछ की तो उसने बताया कि उसकी रिक्शा में बैठी सवारियों ने छाछरी मोड़ के पास उसे चाय पकौड़ी खिलाई थी उसके बाद उसे कुछ याद नहीं। पुलिस ने इंतेज़ार को उपचार के लिए स्वास्थ्य केन्द्र में भर्ती करा दिया है।
